Let's play catch-up....

The last few weeks I have died (numerous times) and gone to music heaven. If soulful, jazzy house is your cup of tea then prepare yourself for a music-induced orgasm of Mariah Carey-vocal like proportions. Rather than write a brief spill on each tune I suggest you listen to everything put in front of you in the post because its all amazing and you will be seriously missing out otherwise. Of special note are:

'Just A Memory' by 6th Borough Project... This song completely blew my mind and just when I thought it couldn't get any better it heats up again at the 4 minute mark. SERIOUSLY amazing tune.

'Those Dancing Days (Original Mix)' by Monkey Safari... I've been racking my brain to determine how I stumbled across this jazzy gem but I really have no idea. Who cares though, its ridiculously smooth. The chorus will make your nipples harder than a naked eskimo on his morning stroll to get the paper.

'Bang Bang Bang (U-Tern's Disco Dub)' by Mark Ronson and the Business INTL... This tune has been getting a lot of airplay lately however this remix is a little lesser known but my favourite version of the song nonetheless. The only criticism I have of it is that there aren't many of the original vocals included as rapped by hip hop legend Q-Tip, my advice: don't skip the 'Tip!!

PS. If you haven't had a chance to listen/buy Miami Horror's new album 'Illumination' then you are in desperate need of a wake-up call and a kick up the clacker. Never have my expectations been blown out of the water so comprehensively from start to finish. Get on it!

Patrick & Eugene - Altogether Now (Monkey Safari Remix) by What! What! Records

Bonus Round: MAJOR levels of funk here.. jazzy!!

To infinity, and beyond!

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. One of the most interesting, computer-game-influenced band names that I've ever heard for sure. Either way, these guys pull off a cover of Justice's 'D.A.N.C.E.' with amazing dexterity. I think this is about 2 years old but damn its so good!

Art vs Science vs DCUP

Art vs Science exploded onto the scene in 2009 by absolutely raping the festival circuit and doing a damn good job of it. Their latest track 'Magic Fountain' has been given a funky makeover by Sydney's own DCUP and I've been thrashing it to say the least. Art vs Science's unmistakable style of electro-rock lends itself perfectly to be remixed; this is definitely going to be big!

Double Trouble

So whilst I've sorta only being posting on here once a week lately, it turns out that I've come across some REALLY good tunes today.. and here we are. These tracks should make the upcoming weekend just that little bit sweeter!

Feel Good (Original Mix) by aniki
Kicking off in style. This 'disco banger' is a massive floor-filler.. and presents a really raw brand of disco-house that is quite refreshingly different. Its pretty rare to find a song that stays true to vintage 70s disco vocals and sounds but still manages to have an element of wobbly filth. Keep your ears on Aniki.. this Norwegian hombre is set to blow up!

FOALS - MIAMI (TiM FUCHS Remix feat. Flight Facilities) by TiM∆FUCHS
Surely you don't need to me to talk you into listening to a song with names like Foals and Flight Facilities on the bill. Speaking of names, Tim Fuchs is an interesting one (I really hope its pronounced the dirty way :P).. a lad fresh off the Sunshine Coast who is starting to make a name for himself in the Australian electro scene. This song is pure bliss in every sense of the word. Crank this in the dark and you'll feel like you're halfway to heaven.

Congorock - Babylon (Fare Soldi - Babbylorso rmx) by FARE SOLDI
Congorock is one of the favourites here on IISTD however you wouldn't think to associate his brand of raw jungle electro with disco now would you? Fare Soldi has given his epic tune 'Babylon' a right working over and at times it sounds like its gonna break into 'Long Train Running' by The Doobie Brothers! Never fear, this is well and truly a H-U-G-E tune that will have you salivating.

More Than You Can Handle..

I know that they say too much of good thing is bad for you.. but 'they' obviously haven't listened to any of these glorious tunes yet. Bit of a mixed bag really... starting with some dreamy instrumental disco, then moving onto some more sun-soaked synthy disco sounds (hurry up hot weather!!!) and finishing with an absolute bomb remix from filthmaster Hostage. The bonus round this week is definitely something different, with one of the most unique 'artists' going around at the moment, Beardyman. If you're heading to Falls Festival this year be sure to see this guy.. all signs point to his performance being mindblowing.

Sun Splash - Instrumental by lukemillion

Monaco by Cadillac™

Michael Jackson - Rock With You (Potions Edit) by DGrandino

PNAU - With You Forever [PAT LOK '1 Night on Granville' Remix] by patlok

Figure - Torture (Hostage Remix) by HOSTAGE

Bonus Round:

Jan Driver - Tellyfoam (Original Mix)

I seriously can't stop listening to this track. It's a pretty simple tune and there's no lyrics but fuck sake its funky as hell, in a real 80s-sitcom-intro-music type of way. You MUST listen!

Grand finale... Beardyman!

Another Chance

Roger Sanchez wanted another chance.. so I guess that's why disco king Leonardus decided to remix arguably his most famous track 'Another Chance'. Terrible joke I know.. but seriously when one of my favourite dance songs of all time gets a facelift I tend to get a bit carried away. The original was dreamy and soothing, this remix is a little more up-tempo and has a bit more of a dancefloor vibe. Here it is in all its glory:

Roger Sanchez - Another Chance (Leonardus Remix) by LeonardusMusic

Bonus Round:

Some other tracks that I've been digging lately...
Cerrone - Give Me Love (Mix Chopin Re-imagination) by MixChopin Super filtered summer disco... yum

Aniki - Lesbian Bondage Fiasco (Nightriders Remix) by Nightriders With a name like 'Lesbian Bondage Fiasco'.. I don't think a description is really necessary

The House Inspectors

Adelaide is home to the Frog Cake, the Pie Floater and the Sturt Desert Pea.. but more importantly, it is home to Dan and Luke.. aka The House Inspectors. I first heard these locals on Fresh FM and immediately fell in love with their catchy jazz-infused funky house sound. I challenge you to listen to one of their original tunes and not crack a smile (or boner) and start bopping your head. This is music lover's music. Enough chatter.. here are two of my favourite tracks from their Soundcloud page.. be sure to scope out their other tracks on there too!

Heaven's in the backseat of my Cadillac..

..'Let me take you there... yeah yeah!'.

Cadillac™ are an Australian disco outfit from Melbourne, and to summarise, they are fucking dope. I was introduced to their music by a friend late last night and immediately I fell in love with their sun-soaked style of nu-disco. If you enjoy synth-heavy tunes and that warm and fuzzy feeling they produce then you will love these guys. Likewise, if you like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain.... ok, too far :P

The first song is an original called 'Make You Feel' and the second is a remix of everyone's favourite dance tune 'Music Sounds Better With You' which is downloadable :)

Make You Feel by Cadillac™

Music sounds better with you (Cadillac Remix) by Cadillac™

Bonus Round:
You might be wondering where the title of this post came from... well wonder no more!

Inhale, exhale

Giulio Dj and Social Disco Club have gifted us with one of the most relaxing tunes I've heard. It has a bit of sensual vibe to it, the kinda song you would expect to hear either very early or very late at night in a club or even the bedroom of a person with an exquisite taste in music. One to listen to in the dark for sure.

Bonus Round:
Synonyms for Sound, one of my favourite blogs, has just posted this original gem by Social Disco Club. Yes, it will sound familiar, because it samples the same tune that Daft Punk sampled to make their HUGE tune 'One More Time'. Really diggin this one.

Tasty tunes

So I've been slack over the past week.. I thought I'd make it up to you guys with some choice beats that have been filling my ears recently. Some new, some old.. but all quality ;)

Ali Love - Smoke & Mirrors (Villa Remix)
Ali Love - Smoke and Mirrors (Villa Remix) by Mr. TMS
Cool disco tune, l-o-v-e the breakdown at 0:32, theres also a great dubstep remix by FuntCase, but I'm keeping this post in the chill zone

So I'm Jo - Air
So I´m Jo - Air by modularfield
Dreamy indie tune, love the vocals and the synthy feel of this one

Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You (Mux Mool Remix)
Music Sounds Better With You (Mux Mool Remix) by Been Asassenated
Absolute classic, seriously one of the best dance tunes of all time in my opinion.. this chilled out remix is legit!

Luther Vandross - Never Too Much (ODahl's K-Love Remix)

If this doesn't make you wanna fall in love with everything and everyone around you then I don't know what will... soothing vocals from Luther Vandross, just pure gold

Bonus Round:
The Streets - Streets Score

There's something about this dark tune I really really like... I can't work if its the haunting sound of the strings or Mike Skinner's lyrics, but either way, its a must-listen

PS: you might recognise some of the lyrics that feature on this blog!
